thx for advice. i do have a lot of experience on ebay... it just happened
the seller indeed doesn't know the first thing about computers and so i managed to get him to give me back app 100$
then i sold the laptop for about 50$ more then I bought it for
and eventualy bought a superb t42 for cheaper than i sold the t40 for
i kid of dedicated myself to buying a t4x... and now i'm very pleased :D

The T21 which is a pIII800 should run XP absolutely fine with 384 or 512Mb and a fast enough HDD.

IMO I'm very dissappointed with the performance of cheaper 4,200rpm drives.

I'd imagine a good 5,400rpm drive would be a good upgrade.
