Help! New to this forum. T20-Screen sizing/centering
Hi Folks! Just got a used T20 running XP Pro. My issue is when start up to Main Windows screen view, it is not centered and it is to big, (cant see the bottom line with "start" at bottom left corner or "time" in bottom right?)
I've tried a few things but cant seem to adjust the display.
Any help would greatly be appriciated.

I have res set at 1024 x 768?
I have a "margin" at the top & left side aprox 1 1/2" of "black" area.
How would I center this image?
On my CRT of my desktop there is a adjustment button that brings up a menu to adjust the peramiters of the display.(up, down, diagonal, size, etc.)
Does the LCD of a Thinkpad have any adjustments?

You cannot adjust the size of the LCD image except as follows: If you are running at different than native resolution (varies with screen), and are running at lower than native, you need to go into the BIOS and turn Expansion ON under the display setting. The results are less than spectactular and that is why most people will run at native resolution. You cannot run greater than native on an LCD.
If you run at native and/or set BIOS as noted and the image does not properly fill the screen, then there is a defect somewhere.

OK, I've got the screen to fill(no "black margin"),
reset resolution @ 1400 x 1050 --after going in to many different "properties" areas, that's the number it said it was?.....BUT.... I still cant see (view) the Taskbar at the bottom(still cant see the bottom???)
This also may be a "rookie" question...Whats BIOS?
Thanks for the help so far..this is FUN..&..frustrating!

Download the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your model. BIOS is accessed by pressing the F1 key at start up. You could do a google search for documentation about computer BIOS. Read up on it before attempting any changes, and when you do go to the BIOS read the instructions contained therein also. Good luck

Power on the laptop, as soon as the IBM Logo appears, push the F1 button... if it does not go into the BIOS (Setup), shutdown, power on again, this time, push the F12 button.. that should bring up a "Push F1 to enter Setup" prompt.
Your screen resolution is still set wrong. You must set it to -no larger- than 1024x768.

OK, when I start computer I still cant get it to go into BIOS. as soon as I see IBM logo I keep tapping F1, it beeps(if I hold F1 down, it's a long beep) then it just loads the desktop.
I just installed a new copy of Windows XP Home Edition-srevice pack 2 and ran all MS updates-
-I did get a full screen(no black margin on left/top) with START bar at bottom and my Display Properties/Settings-Display was something like "TFT14.1....." as display #1 and Default monitor on S3 Graphics Inc, SavageIX as #2.
Everything "was" great. It was working and looking "normal".
Then I shut it down and the next start up It's all gone?
It's back to small screen, lower right hand side, 3"black margin left/top-@640 by 480, and when I increase resolution I cant see the START bar at bottom. Display settings now only have 1 choice, "Default Monitor on S3 Graphics Inc. SavageIX
I have tried reloading MS updates, but no change.
I know it can work, I saw it, and it was BEAUTIFUL!
HELP! Thanks.

Problem solved!!!!!!!
I was told by a neighbor to test the power system. He had a bad battery and it was making things funky for his laptop. So, I made sure that battery had a full charge and when I disconnected the AC power supply everything was OK (full sceen, proper resolution, full & clear colors). So I tried a different AC power supply and all is working great!!!!
It was "my" AC power supply!!! (new one on order)
Thanks for all the input from everybody!
