Hi all,
I have a Thinkpad T20 model, and I think i made a big big mistake.
I updated the bios to the 1.22, the latest one, (the previous bios on my machine was 1.21) and all the procedure went well.
But after the reboot, the battery indicator started to blink orange.
Now the battery led is always in that state, if I unplug the AC adaptor the system goes imediately in hibernation. The battery seems to be charged, because if I turn on the system without the adaptor, the system does not shut down. But the orange battery led is always blinking orange, with or without the AC adaptor.
I can't downgrade the bios to 1.21 because he tells me that the battery pack must be fully charged.
EDIT: Is there a way to update the bios without the original program software (that is, no battery check before updating) ?
Battery problem after bios 1.22 update on T20
Hi again,
after many tries (and blasphemies in every known languages against IBM) i'v found a solution, totally unintentional !!!!
I put all the bios files from 1.19 bios diskette into a bootable diskette, so I could use the programs from the command line.
Then I tried flash.exe /U but the battery check was already done.
But when I wrote "qkflash.exe" and typed return, the programs started to flash the bios without asking anything else... but at the end there was an insufficient memory error, and "you must reboot" message.
I though all was gone forever, but the system booted, and now in bios I have a strange situation:
Bios version: 1.22 (the latest one)
Embedded Controller: 1.05 (the one present on bios 1.19 update)
I don't know why the bios updated itself only in the embedded controller part, but this solved the battery problem; it's now fully recognized buy the system and fully recharged.
Now I can update the bios with the official 1.21 bios to put all the things as they were... but as the system now works great with this "hybrid" coniguration, do you think it's better to leave things as they are now ? (latest bios and old embedded controller)
