t 22 m/b

#1 Post by ianf » Thu Jan 12, 2006 7:32 pm

hello
first post
i have a t21 & a t22 the board died on the t22 so found a replacemant from usa that was ibm refurbished?? fitted it booted then fan fail warning removed key board the fan had failed ,test fan spins fine on 3volts ,so checked m/b with power on & passive h/s to save cpu , the fan pad on m/b read as follows pins 4 +ve to 2 -ve at 3.15v which is not how my fan is wired but there is no current so if i rewired the fan header it still won't work any idea's they claim it was supplied 100% good not sure how much time they spend but maybe there is somewhere on the board i can get a 5v line. second other boards are aroud that need new pass word chips is there a fix for this prob as this maybe a quick solution for me.

any advice woud be most welcome thaks

It sounds like you're not afraid to get your hands dirty on the mobo so you might consider buying a new security chip and installing it yourself. They're sold on Ebay and maybe elsewhere.

thanks for the reply

iwill buy another board that needs the chip ( believe 2) i found your link to the the german place on ebay for eeproms see how it goes wish i could get schematic for board though i could maybe fix the fan problem, it seems to me that a lot of these boards go dead i reckon it is dry joints cos they run quite cool compared to some if you have any links to such info on diagrams not the how to strip as i hjave bought all those already not much help ,,

thanks ianf

Yeah, it appears a lot of T-series mainboards go bad. I suspect it's due to case flex and the way the machines are handled. I think a lot of these failures occur because folks pick them up with one hand, like I've always done with my 770s.
