Need help for T21 with blank screen after lcd replacement
Hi all...sure hope someone out there can help me with my T21. I had a cracked screen so replaced the LCD assembly ( screen and housing etc) pretty much per hardware manual instructions and now can't get anything but a white/gray screen and two beeps on power up - which the manual says is system board error.
Connections are all just fine and dandy to the screen. I triple checked everything I did and even tried to use the monitor from my desktop but nothing there either (actually didn't even get the monitor to come on) .
Advice please.......
Amy

The screen was cracked close to a year ago after the dog knocked it off a table. Everything has been fine since then but I got tired of reading around dark streaks so finally ordered a replacement. Actually this is the second screen replacement - the first, I did couple of weeks ago but that time just did the screen not the whole assembly. Turns out that screen had some dead pixels so returned it for the one I did today.
Will also add that I just removed the fan and had a good gander at the cpu. Took it off gave it a kiss and put it back but nothing but the same.

Two beeps and a blank screen indicate a system board OR ram problem. Try reseating the ram, better yet, move it to the other bank (assuming you only have one; if you have two, swap in one at a time, trying both banks).
Next, you might try removing EVERYTHING possible at once:
optical/floppy drive
hard drive
battery
wi-fi card/modem (MPCI)
NIC (CDC)
PCMCIA cards
Then try to boot off AC adapter power only. If no go, install the battery and try booting off it with no ACadapter connected. If you are able to boot at this point, reinstall each item removed, one at a time.

Thanks again everyone for the thougths....
so, I'm a bit concerned now that I have done something horrible....just realized that while I did remove the big battery in the order the manual noted, I did not remove the backup battery until later when I realized I had missed doing it. Would that cause damage to the system board?
