ERROR 0189 INVALID RFID CONFIGURATION INFORMATION AREA

#1 Post by betabill » Fri Jan 20, 2006 6:27 pm

I get this error, then my T21 halts on boot, pressing ESC allows boot to continue. Bios setup allows clearing certain RFID errors but problem still exists after clearing the error an re-booting.
Did a search in this forum, saw various responses from "systemboard needs replaced" to "in time, the issue went away". I assume some the memory locations where the bios code is cached are not available. Is there any way to re-allocate the cache so this issue clears up, I'm planning to sell my T20, T21 and T23 and get a T42, dont need any problems before the sale.

Have you tried removing the CMOS battery to clear the CMOS?

Yeah, but it didnt work. Went into bios setup and began resetting time and date but I see no embedded controler version listed and the UUID is five groups of ff. Should I flash the bios now?

Update: Couldnt flash the bios since I already had the latest version.
Issue still present, but system works just great.

I'm sure that you might have already checked, but according to IBM it is the System Board:
