T22 keyboard bezel on T23?

#1 Post by Nolonemo » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:18 pm

For all you Frankenpad builders out there:

How well, if at all, will a T22 keyboard bezel fit on a T23?

Thanks.

You can "make" it fit but you will really need a true T23 kb bezel for the proper fit. :D

Yes, be sure to have a sharp exacto knife handy. I used the help of a lighter to heat the blade. It makes cutting easier and the bezel is fairly fragile in this area.

It should be fairly obvious where it needs to be cut when you see it in person--on the left-rear side near the processor. Keep the cut straight, and it will fit as good as stock.

There was also a small metal piece that interfered with the pcmcia slots that I simply removed.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info.

Does the mod render the bezel unusable on a T22?

I've already done one Xacto mod on my NEC 6500's faceplate to get it to fit in the ultrabay, so taking the Xacto to the bezel will be like old times.

Probably not unuseable, but there will be a 1/6 - 1/4" gap in that corner if you put it back.
