t22 mains power no battery

shortly after purchasing my second user t22 it gave the message critical battery error 0190 do i need a battery to run this on mains adaptor ? it will not work with or without a battery in it, just repeats the error message and turns off any advice gladly received thanks. :

I believe you only need both a good battery and A/C adapter when you flash the bios. Otherwise it should run fine on just the A/C adapter.
In your case, you have either a bad battery and bad A/C adapter, a bad I/O card or a bad system board.

thank you for your reply , this machine has never worked on the mains adaptor , it would only work with a battery in it ,as the battery was nearly at the end of its life and would not hold a charge the machine gives the error code which according to ibm/lenovo website means replace /recharge battery

i have tried to run the machine without the battery but it reports the same error and turns off??

should it work without a battery attached to it just the mains adaptor??

Yes, it should work without the battery installed.

If it doesn't, then chances are, your motherboard is defective.

thanks for reply i have searched this subject on search engine and found others asking the same question it seems i am not the only t series owner who has experienced this problem, i have emailed one such sufferer and will let you all know if i come up with an answer regards and thanks again.
