Intel 2200bg wifi and no error
I bought the 2200bg and installed it in place of the modem, I read that I would have to install the error fix. However I am not getting any error and the adaptor works, not very good though because I didnt get an antenna yet, but I get a signal about 20ft away. It is an Intell and marked Dell. Am I just lucky or do some not need the fix. I had installed a D-Link card befor I got the internal Intel one and both drivers are installed. I installed the intel driver 9.0.1.0
Tomorrow I will try and make my own antenna, soldering the wires on will be the biggest problem. Where is the best place to place the antenna? I think there is a link to installation under the keyboard, can someone post the link. I cant find it anymore.
Thanks

Whoa with the soldering! I believe that the antennas are very thin coaxial cables. If you look at the wifi card, you will see that there is a little post in the middle of the antenna connector and the connector on the antenna has a tiny connecto that snaps onto that as well as the larger connector that snaps onto the outside of the connector on the wifi card.
I'm not sure about the coax thing, but I can tell you that if you don't have both parts of the antenna connector properly attached, your wifi signal will suck. I know because I screwed up the inner connecter once.
Also, antennas are also "tuned" to the radio frequency. I believe you can pick up antennas on ebay for around $10, so I would go that route.
BTW the bios error with the Intel card only happens with the higher models (T4x, not sure about the T3x), its a non-issue with the T2x series.

soldering own antennae is generally not recommendable. high frequency layouting works much different to LF and you could be punished with bad reception. best thing to do is buy a brand antenna on ebay and put that in as is - do not cut, the length is very important!
there is this german guy who did it to his t23. Hereare some pictures.

I bought the antenna from Ebay even though I am confident I could have built one. I own an IC test business and have experience in RF. Anyway Im very disatisfied with the setup. I tried the antenna 3 places, see this post for details
