Creating rescue media

Is it possible to create a set of rescue media without a CDRW drive on the laptop? I tried running the program, but then it asks to select a recordable device. Of course the box is empty.

I don't have an XP disc, so I want the rescue media for when I go to muck around with Linux on my T23 this weekend.

pretty sure you can't, you might want to clone your drive to a network drive before mucking around.
