How long should a 4400mAh battery last in a T21?

#1 Post by monkeynaut » Fri Feb 03, 2006 5:50 pm

Hey there,

I just bought a 4400mAh battery off of ebay for my T21 (Pentium III 800MHz) and I don't know how dodgy the retailer is, so here's my question:

I'm showing about 2:00hrs battery time at 100% for a 4400mAh battery in a pentium III 800MHz, T21, is that about what I should expect?

If so, what would 3500mAh have given me? Yikes!

Thanks in advance...

You never know what to expect w/ aftermarket/refurb batteries (eg: 4400)...

dude im in the same positino as you.
noticing a lot of high capacity batteries on ebay from 3rd party manufacturers.

btw 2hrs is very low. that means the cells in that battery arent high quality
i get 3.5hours on an ibm 3600mAh

usually on a fresh t21 battery people get around 2.5-3 hours according to IBM, and people have claimed to get 4 hours with an ibm 4.4MAH battery.
i get 1 and a half on my stock battery and it is under half of its design capacity according to IBM's software and Linux

One thing to keep in mind is what kind of tasks you are performing while running on the battery. I have had a 4400MAH last 3.75 hrs, but I didn't do anything with the laptop, I just let it run down. If I did it surfing the internet, then I only got about 2.5. With a DVD, I would just barely finish the movie when the battery would die....at about 1.75hrs.

curious to know did you buy this battery as it was advertised for T2x series or the T30. It seems that the T2x series and the T30 can share batteries.

cuz im thinking of buying a battery from ebay as well. however the ibm t20 batteries are 3600mAh while the t30 batteries are 4200mAh+. so just wondering which one you had.

The battery was new from ebay and is for a T2X, there is a posting about T30 batteries in T2X's here:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 21+battery

When I say it shows 2:00hrs at 100%, that's according to the Windows XP power meter, I haven't actually played a DVD or tested it in real time with real activities. I'll do that and post again...

Here's the info from ebay:
