Ultrabay 2000 second hard drive?

#1 Post by zs0m30n3z » Fri Feb 10, 2006 9:28 pm

Is there such a thing? In case anybody don't know what I'm talking about, I mean, is there a way to replace the ultrabay on a t2x series thinkpad with another module that lets me put in a 2.5" hd?

Yes there is and they are fairly easy to find, on ebay etc. I've used one since the T20 came out and it works great. I've put a variety of drives it and they've all worked great! Especially useful for transfering lots of data or on other machines.
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)
Historic Retired ThinkPads- T42p, X20, A31p, 701c, 760XD, WorkPad C505

And see this thread for a discussion of the various other Ultrabay devices:

Ultrabay slim 2nd hdd not recognized

#4 Post by katt » Mon Feb 13, 2006 6:58 pm

Hello! I just got an Ultrabay slim second hdd bay, and put an IBM drive in it. It shows up in the Device Manager (windows xp) as working, but it does not show up as a drive in My Computer. From what I've read, it should automatically appear as an available drive, no? Any suggestions for how I can access this drive?

edit: T41 (maybe I'm in the wrong thread but found this after searching on Ultrabay...)

They're all over eBay. I got one very reasonably as an assembly with the drive and all parts to slip it in to the Ultrabay. I also got an external drive housing in case I need to use the Ultrabay for another device yet use the second drive at the same time. There are sometimes decent deals to be found on eBay...
