What's Wrong with Battery

#1 Post by f4duk » Thu Feb 23, 2006 7:12 am

Hi all,

Thinkpad T22 2647-4eg , win98se

I have a little problem with conditioning battery.

when I condition the battery, such as IBM method describes

my battery decrease of capacity less 20% each cycle. :(

Before i made cycle, my battery had 24.8W capacity (Nb of cycle 71) battery health Yellow after 3 cycles capacity is only 12.74W and battery health red.

See the log :

before 24,88 Cycle 1 end of cycle 19,91
before 19,91 Cycle 2 end of cycle 15,93
before 15,93 Cycle 3 end of cycle 12,74

What wrong bios mother board, baterry , cycle Methode ?

Another question is there a mean to obtain full speed 900Mhz with no baterry inside running on AC Pwr.sup.

When i try to run only with AC adapter (battery removed), the speed is only 700mhz the speedstep option "AC maximum Perf" is grayed (gray).

Thanks in advance

Ps: sorry for my English, i hope you can understand well i try to explain.

Jean

How old is the battery? Is your A/C adapter 72 watt? The batteries have a definite life-span and will become week after may charge cycles.
The cpu will run full speed, 900mhz in your case as the processing load is heavy, and will throttle down when the load is light. This is done to reduce the generation of heat and improve overall stability.

Hi,

The battery is from 2003, cycle 73.

My AC adapter is fru 02K6670 16v 4.5Amp i think about 72w.

what I does not understand, this is why when the battery is present the computer run at 900Mhz (FSB100 multiplier 9), and when I remove the battery (only withAC main adapter), the speed is "locked" at 700Mhz (Fsb100 multiplier 7).

however this is for commercial reason. Is it to force the user to buy a new battery? when their battery becomes out of use.

Is there a parameter to setting for the maximum performance on AC ?
maximum performance on AC is grayed, only the performance for battery appear (when no battery inside computer).

When a battery is installed, the computer supplied with the AC adapter, in the menu i can choose and change between "Maximum performance on AC and "performance optimised for battery" nothing is grayed in this case.

Thank in advance for help

Jean
