T23 locks up

#1 Post by roadwarrior69 » Fri Mar 03, 2006 7:52 pm

I have an older T23 that locks up. I've reinstalled windows, updated drivers. I'm not sure if it's bad memory???

I'd like to run a diagnostic program on it, something to test the memory, and system board and anything else that might have flackey ram. I'm thinking it's hardware related.

Any help would be great. I've had this machine for 4 years, it's been great, but if it keep locking up and I contiune to loose my work the computer is no good to me.

I'd like a software program, or IBM tool that could pin point the issue if one exists?

If you boot into the BIOS as the system starts, there should be an IBM utility that will allow you to test every piece of hardware in your system.

There is also a program that you can download from IBm's website called PC Doctor, though I haven't used that one myself.

On a coputer that is locking up or acting up 90% of the time it's one of 3 things:

1- VIDEO CARD PROBLEMS

2- OVERHEATING

3- Bad RAM(MEMORY STICK)

On a laptop you can do very little about 1 and 2.. Swap out your RAM sticks with good ones,if possible...
