Trackpoint - doing my head in

#1 Post by UA » Mon Mar 06, 2006 1:42 pm

Hello all, new here and badly need some help before my thinkpad goes out the window

My trackpoint seems to be permanently on - so I can't use the left hand red button, if i click it, it shows a scroll icon.

I don't know how to switch it off apart from disabling it (in bios) and then I don't have a cursor. I was in thinkpad configuration but since I can't click using the left hand button i can't open it

please help

cheers, UA

Can't you set the bios to let you keep the trackpoint and run a plug-in mouse at the same time? Then you should be able to fix the configuration.

Note that you can pretty much navigate all around windows using the tab key and arrow keys. Spacebar checks and unchecks boxes and radio buttons. Enter key excutes, acts like a left click on the highlighted item.

T22 frankenpadded to T23

#3 Post by nrphotos » Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:29 pm

hi Nolonemo, what does this mean? I need a bit more than my T22 has to offer. I have a usb 120G ext HDD for my pc & will try to use it later tonight so am in no hurry to buy a bigger HD. I've burned dvd's to transfer updates & other exe files to the laptop. I need another stick of 256 mem & a faster cpu. Can you tell me what you've done to mod your T22. thanks, nancy

Frankenpadded T22 -> 23 means it replaced the bottom case + mobo + cpu of the T22 with a T23 assembly. It is much much peppier now. However, doing this to a T22 probably costs about the same in the end as just buying a T23 and selling the T22.

Maxing out the T22 memory to 512MB should give you a nice performance boost. Upgrading the CPU won't give you much of a difference, not really cost-effective IMO.
