Which dock for T-series?

#1 Post by TonyJZX » Tue Apr 04, 2006 4:25 pm

As far as I know there's:

Dock (fans/pci)

Dock II (fans/pci)

Port Replicator II (1 port USB 2.0 hub) Power pass-through -- use the AC power adapter that ships with your ThinkPad or with an optional power adapter

Minidock (4 port USB 2.0 hub) The included external power adapter powers both the Mini Dock and the attached system.

Most likely getting one thru ebay so price if a factor.

Which one would you get with an eye towards a T40 in the future?

Some have fans which is probably not great for people who like quiet. Some have PCI slots.

I like the minidock strangely.

I you plan to have a T40, I think the only real choose is the Dock II. It fits and has it's own power supply (lets you keep yours in the bag ready to go).

On the other hand you can get the port replicator for $11 shipped on eBay and the docks seem to be going for $60+ excluding shipping.
