T21 Intermittent display

ok...heres the beef...i got a t21 for my lad...3 months later the display has decided to go awol ...i replaced the lcd ribbon cable....hey presto....it ran for an hour with no probs....next day when i booted up ..NOTHING....the z in the circle lights up...(I think this is power...sorry for my ignorance ) but the hdd light doesnt....There are no bleeps. so how come it came on yesterday....but not today??? and did i have the ribbon replaced for nothing??? your help on this would be most appreciated.

Well... mine powers up to the Z. You can try the standard issue diagnostics. Pull extra cards, reseat connectors etc. I concluded mine was toast and have ordered a replacement from ebay.

Thanks for response...ive done the usual testing to no avail but guess what.....when i took the casing away then popped the keyboard back on...it booted....im kerfuddled on this one....coz when i put the thing back together (outer casing...yep you got it...it failed to boot..i still get the z light...fan kicks in,hdd whirs away,but i dont get the hdd light and of course ,no display....its leaning towards mobo isnt it!??

I would be very careful to make sure that you are putting it back together in the right order....it sounds like something might be adding pressure to a connector.
