T20 question

#1 Post by Saibot216 » Sat Apr 15, 2006 9:00 pm

I have an IBM Thinkpad T20 and my laptop froze and I pressed the power button to turn it off.
I turn it back on and when it loads Windows XP it freezes at the loading bar. I've tried shuting it down in safe mode and system restore, then starting it normally.
Nothing seems to work, can someone help me please?

Take out the mini PCI card, if present. Also, remove all other accessories, like PCMCIA cards, USB devices, optical drives.

Could be a virus as well...

You might want to do a Repair install of windows. That fixes windows and leaves your files intact.

A repair install is just putting the windows XP disc in and then what?

tell it to install windows. It will then search your HDD's for existing installations and ask you if you want to repair any existing installation, you chose to repair instead of clean install.

This sounds like a hardware problem to me, though.

I got a message that says:
The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality
So now what do I do?

You don't want to do a recovery console. I odn't know how to use that sutpid thing.
The windows repair install looks like a normal install. I think you actually almost go up to the point where it installs windows like press F8 type thing.
