T23 Batteryless Controller and Bios Upgrade?/does not charge

#1 Post by davekazmdrummer » Thu Apr 20, 2006 9:52 am

I just bought a T23 off of ebay and it works great, however the system does not charge the battery. When I first got it the battery had about 2 hours or more of charge in it and I thought everything was fine, except when plugged in it never charged the battery. I've been doing lots of research on the subject and narrowed it down to 3 possibilities.

A. The Bios and Host controller versions are more than 2 years old and need to be upgraded.

B. Apparently the T23 battery needs to be charged by 4.5W of current (i could be wrong) and in the battery maximizer program it says 10.5w, even though the back of the AC adapter says 4.5W.

C. Something is physically wrong with the laptop making it incapable to charge the batteries.

Another interesting thing is that even though the battery is shown to have 0 charge and not able to be charged, last night I accidentally left it in sleep mode instead of off and when I pulled it out it was still working. Of course when I unslept it it freaked out cause there was no battery and put it in suspend but I don't think a battery with 0 charge in it should be able to sustain sleep mode for 20 hours without dying.

Here's the dilema, I want to try upgrading the bios and controller first but like you all know I can't do this without a fully charged battery. I understand the risks of a power outage during upgrade, however I can't upgrade because my battery is "dead" and I can't charge my battery until I upgrade....catch 22. Are there any batteryless solutions for upgrading both of these for the T23?

Thanks.
