T30 System Board Problem

#1 Post by Fred Mertz » Thu Apr 20, 2006 2:57 pm

I have a bad system board.Does it pay to fix it for 400$ when its only used for internet access?Would I be better off with a refurbished T23 or similiar?Where are my dollars best spent?Any thoughts? Thanks

You can save some money if you'd like to pick up a T23, then sell the basic "dead" T30 for money towards the T23. Even dead, your T30 might bring in a decent price.

Remember, you can also strip your battery and optical drives from the T30 and use them in the T23. The memory is not compatible though.

A T30 battery most certainly can be used in a T23, as well as the rest of the T2x series. It just cannot go the other way. I am using one in my T21 right now.

Gotcha.... sorry, I had tried it the other way around, and had assumed that it was not a one-way street.

No problem! I learn new things everyday myself, and forget a few too.

Replaced my T30 with an a21m with a 14 inch screen for under 200$.Does anyone think it possible that in a couple of years the price of a T30 system board will drop or is that too farfetched?

Eventually they will drop, but you might want to keep an eye out. It is possible that someone might tear apart their T30 for parts because the LCD broke.
