Where to find T30 HDD Cover Screw.

#1 Post by cjsimokat » Fri Apr 21, 2006 10:58 am

Howdy,

I'm looking for information on where to find a T30 HDD Cover Screw. I had bought one off ebay that said T30, but it was actually a T20 which is just a hair slimmer. I did find a hobby shop store that had screws that looked like they MIGHT fit, but i would rather be sure.

Thanks!

As Bill suggested in your other post, you can go the route contacting IBM....or if you have a shop in town that has screws that seem like they might fit, try taking the T30 in and test them. I am sure that the store will be willing to help you....versus buying a screw, getting a refund, buying another screw, getting another refund...etc.

My T30 HD screw is a 3mm X about 9mm and looks a lot like a DuBro hobby shop screw called a "SOCKET" style (meaning it takes an allen wrench rather than a slotted screw driver. I've bought several DuBro 3mm X 4mm item number DuBro number 2120 for the TP600 hard drive fastener. The DuBro screws come three or four to a packet and cost less than $2.00 at my hobby shop. I'd try a 3mm X 8mm, DuBro 2122, it should work. If not, try the DuBro 2123 3mm X 10mm. Or, better yet, buy each packet with an investment of $4.00.

Thanks for the website. I ordered 2 sets of 3x8 and 2 sets of 3x10

according to the ibm website for FRU items, the screw size is 3x11, so hopefully the 3x10 might work half way decent.
