Watch out for AC adapters.....

#1 Post by radek » Tue May 02, 2006 8:21 pm

.....actually for wire between socket and adapter. I was working with my t23 powered from adapter and suddenly I saw the smoke ! The wire connector (the one that goes into adapter) was burned... :( . Now I got a problem. My multimeter can measure only DCA so I'm unable to tell if it's the adapter's fault. As soon as I get one that can measure AC current I will be able to tell if adapter drains current above 1,6 A. If so, I'll have to replace it. But if it isn't adapters fault - something is preety f.... up with the connector isolation. There is a sign on it that indicates it should be able to work with the current up tu 2,5 A ! Well - why am I writeing this ? Because I was lucky to get home before that smoke, as I left my t23 attachet to adapter. If it had started to burn while I weren't home - there would be serious trouble... :( So guys remember - never leave it connected - safety first ! BTW: Did anyone had this sort of issue ?

Oh,that is not a good thing to hear.
Maybe your adapter is old enough.
So,for safety,replace it!
