T22 Max Resolution on Ext. Monitor

What is the max. resolution for the T22 on an external monitor? I know the spec sheet says 1600x1200, but is this the actual max? (or did they write this because higher resolutions didn't exist at the time). I'm running Linux, and want to get a DELL 2405FPW (1920x1200) or ViewSonic VX2025WM (1680X1050)

I put my T22 on a IBM P200 which I believe has the capability of resolution higher than 1600x1200, but didn't get an option higher than that on the drop-down list.
