How to run T21 at 667MHz

#1 Post by shepseskaf » Tue Jun 20, 2006 8:14 pm

Under AC power, my T21 runs at a consistent 800MHz. Under battery power, it runs at a 667MHz and is much quieter and cooler. I've checked the Power Options, and don't see anyway to manually reduce CPU speed while using AC.

Any help would be appreciated.

Install the Intel Speedstep utility?
After I installed it (find it at intel) I have this little checkered flag for 866mhz, and a flag with a square for 700mhz.

Excellent! Thanks for your reply. I found a Speedstep utility download right on the Lenovo site.

Just what I was looking for.

What OS are you using now? If its XP....then you don;t need the Speedstep thingy. Its built into Windows XP already.

I neglected to mention that I'm running w2k, so I needed to download and install the Speedstep utility. I did so yesterday and it works great - allowing me to drop the processor speed to 667MHz, thus generating much less heat. I'm sure it will help my T21 to last longer.
