T21 start up issue

Hello everyone. I have an IBM T21 that has developed a bit of an issue. After the unit sits for a day or so, When attempting to power the unit up, the HDD light just blinks and then nothing. If the AC adapter is connected, the battery light will also blink when the switch is pressed. It doesn't matter if the battery is installed or not, nor does it matter if the AC adapter is connected or not. I have noticed that I can get it to start by removing the CMOS battery (Located behind the main battery) with no AC adapter connected. Then reinstall the CMOS and main batteries and The unit will then start. You then you have to re-enter the date and time after doing this. Any one have any ideas?
