PCMCIA (PC Card) differences for T2x?

I'm refurbishing a T23 with one missing eject lever in the PCMCIA card cage. Tried searching the archives for an answer to this question but came up empty:

Is there really a functional difference between the PCMCIA card slots for the T20, T21, T22 and T23 systems? Are they not interchangeable? This is what I was able to find:

FRUs from IBM website (System Service Parts):
T20 - 08K6083
T21/T22 - 08K7064
T23 - 26P9165

FRUs from HMM for T2x (April 2002):
T20/T21/T22 - 08K7064
T23 - 26P9165

The website does not agree with the HMM for the T20. eBay sellers appear to say that the 08K6083 will work on T20, T21 and T22s and acknowledge that the T23 is different, with one saying the 08K7064 will work with the T23 (in contrast to the web site and the HMM). In fact this seller is offering both the 08K6083 (T20/1/2) and the 08K7064 (T23). They look different; the '83 appears to have a thin aluminum bottom and the '64 has about half the coverage and seems to be plastic. The buttons are not the same color either. I don't really care about the color; I'm only concerned about the electrical and physical compatibility. The HMM line drawings for the T20/1/2 and T23 are identical; they match what the '83 looks like (assuming the seller is correct about the FRU). I don't trust eBay sellers to really know what they're selling all of the time but I'm confused with the conflicting information I'm getting from the HMM.

So, what's the scoop? Has anyone tried replacing the card cages between T2x systems? What works and what doesn't?

There is no functional difference. As far as I remember, the design of T23 cage differs a little to fit the T23 casing. I think you have to cut out a little plastic piece on the T23 cage to make it fit in a T20.

So the T23 motherboard/case can be considered a "universal recipient" in that it can accept any one of the T2x card cage FRUs?

I think so, but I'm not sure. Some minor modification might be needed, but it'll fit.
