Just got T22...

#1 Post by nub » Thu Jul 20, 2006 7:31 pm

I just got a used T22. It originally didn't work but after replacing the hard drive I was able to reformat it. The specs are as follows:

-P3 900 mhz
-512 ram
-20 gig harddrive
-xp pro

This is my first laptop and I'm curious what steps I should take to make the most if it. Right now I'm using a wireless card (D-Link), but I think it hurts my battery life. I also can't connect to my belkin router. Are there any drivers that can remedy this? What other programs or drivers should I download to make the most of my t22. Any advice will help.

Go here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/ enter the product number ("Type" found on the bottom of your machine), hit "Go" and you'll be taken to a wealth of information including tips, drivers, etc.

What version of Windows are you using?

With those specifications I would recommend Win XP to make the most of it, or if that isn't an option then Windows 2000.

It sometimes saddens me to see the T2* series and even the T30 running Windows 98 on 512MB of RAM and on a large hard disk, given that XP would fly on them.

I second this recommendation.

Get "Software Installer" ( not System Updater ), install it and run it and it will show you a lot of IBM software that you can download and install for free.

Things to check for the wireless connection:

- Reboot the router
- Make sure that your WEP or WPA settings match those on the router.

More suggestions will depend on whether you are using D-Link software for wireless, or XP's softwaure.
