T20 Spacebar dissassembly 56k SUPER unfriendly 1mb of pics

#1 Post by awdark » Mon Jul 24, 2006 12:08 am

Okay, I took my spacebar apart, cleaned it out very well, swapped the left with the right... and im very happy with the results.

I stuck a knife under the center of the black and white scissor like thing and twisted. The tiny tiny pins popped out okay but I assume its probably risky.
I think it might be very possible to pop off the spacebar if we were to stick a knife where I have the lines pointing to to pop off the X unit.

I popped off the spacebar, and the mounting was left, I took it off to clean. >_< iewl used keyboard hairs!!!

Bottom of spacebar, notice the square, circle, square? Thats why I think you could pop it off to reduce the chance of damage.

See the X thing comes off.

Reattach by hooking the white pins to the top, and pop in the bottom black pins.

Spacebar ready to be popped back in place.

Detail in case you're interested.

:D I hope someone out there will find this informative.

I went through the entire process of signing up to this community just so I could say thank you!.... I told a friend I would update his latop and install a PCI wireless card. He handed it to me and when I opened it up several keys and the spacebar feel out... kids...

I spent way to much time trying to figure it out... I almsot gave up but your PICS saved the day.
