#1 Post by mattyprice4004 » Sat Jul 29, 2006 6:11 pm

Hi, I will be getting one of the abive notebooks soon, and was wondering if anyone knows the maximum memory you can install successfully, and what type it would be??

Thanks a lot! :P

512mb (2x256mb) of PC100/PC133 Low Density ram.

Normally, I would tell you to use the search button, but supposedly it hasn't been working too well, the past to days.

Well, you can't always tell the difference between that and the fact that not too many users use it much to begin with; and, no, complaints don't count either as you can't tell if it means the search functions don't work or the user doesn't work or is incompatible with that setup...It can be very hard to tell the difference sometimes.

For the record, I have had it time out on me randomly over the past two days.

Then it might be high time that the code for it was re-examined. :)

The main problem is that phpBB Search Function was written by someone who had never used a Bulletin Board.

It has these two choices:
Search topic title and message text
Search message text only
when by far the most valuable choice would be "Search topic title only". Every other Bulletin Board search function has that choice.

For example, suppose you are interested in doing a Search for more information on batteries, rather than asking a newbie question about it. What you need to do is find the threads that have " batter* " in the title. If you search for " batter* " in the message text, you will end up with just every thread in the site.

PS a modification to add the "topic title only" choice exists, if anyone knows enough about phpBB code to install the modification. Contact site owner Bill if you can do that.
