Hybrid T22 w/ T20 Motherboard

#1 Post by jmuse1 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 7:48 pm

Greetings. Sorry if this is obvious or answered elsewhere, if so I'd appreciate a point in that direction.

I have a T22 that was experiencing intermittent hardware crashes, after which it would not power on. After trying everything I could come up with, I purchased and installed a motherboard from ebay.

It's working so far (no crashes), but there are a few issues. Now, according to the auction it's a 12P3091, and according to the Lenovo figure out your system tool it's from a T20.

1.) What bios should I flash it to? It's looks like it currently has a 1.08a from the T20. Presumably I should keep going with the T20 line?

2.) While it has a 900mhz processor, it's only coming up as 700mhz in the bios (or mobilemeter), no matter if it's on AC or battery. I couldn't locate anywhere in the Bios to modify it, so are my options: A) a bios flash might remedy it or if not
B) I have one of the early T20 mobos that won't take a 900mhz?

3.) For some reason, the trackpoint isn't working with the new mobo. I had no problems before, but now it won't show up at all (i.e. neither Windows, Linux, nor PC Doctor so much as sees it). I tried changing the settings in the bios to no avail. The rest of the keyboard is working fine. Has anyone ever had a mobo-related trackpointproblem, or did I somehow screw up the keyboard the eleventieth time I took it out and put it back?

If there's anything I didn't mention but should have, please let me know. Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Trackpoint issue resolved

Okay, scratch that trackpoint question...some combination of putting the ethernet/modem card back in and mucking with the bios settings has it working fine.

Thanks,
Josh

Mostly resolved

All right, sorry for the bother. I flashed the most recent T20 Bios, and now the Bios recognizes the 900mhz processor, and everything else seems to be working. I just have to get the Bios and Speedstep to run it at full when appropriate.

Thanks,
Josh

Great job!

Question though, did you atleast reuse the T22 fan, to keep the system cool?
