Do the PCMCIA ports disturb each other?

#1 Post by Lars » Wed Aug 23, 2006 4:30 pm

A friend of mine has a T-22. He has added a USB 2 PC card to it since long.
His home network is wireless. He has a Netgear router and Netgear wireless PC card.
At the time nothing was connected to the USB 2 card.
Recently he upgraded his broadband from 2 to 8 Mb.

To his surprise there was no improvement in Internet speed at all.
Until he unplugged the USB 2 card. Suddenly he was flying at full throttle!

How could this be?
Do the two PC Card slots share an interface to the mobo?
Is there a maximum total speed?

OK, thanks.

Since posting I have found out that the usb 2 card was not functioning any more.
I do not know yet if the problem with it is hardware or driver related.
If it is defect in hardware I suppose that could mess with things up further down the line.

Thanks for your comment.

Its possible you might have an IRQ conflict going on there, that would make for a horrible speed loss like you describe.
