T21 charging issue

#1 Post by Billn » Sat Aug 26, 2006 12:16 pm

Hello everyone, Does anyone have an idea on what may be causing my T21 to not start when the AC adapter has been left connected to the laptop. This only happens after the battery has reached full charge and the AC adapter is left connected to the computer. The machine runs perfectly with the adapter connected or not. It just won't start if the adapter is left connected after charging. To get it started during this condition, all I have to do is remove the main battery for a short period of time and the unit will then start after reinstalling the battery. I did try another used battery but it didn't help. Anyone have any ideas? Bill N.

Maybe overcharged capacitors? I am not into electronics, but it must be something related to the circuits themselves, since this happens when your Thinkpad is off (not software or BIOS related)

Agreed, My T21 and I have been together for some time, I hate to see it start going south without me. :) . In lots of the other posts, I see where several people are haveing start up problems but none seem to be tied to the charging. Bill N.
