Recording from a mike on T-23
Recording from a mike on T-23
Bear with me, I never had to do this until today.
I know about the built-in microphone under the right arrow key and the mike jack on the audio header on my T-23 but theres no option in windows XP Volume Control to actually record and save voice clips.
I need to use this feature today, can someone tell me what to do?

Windows XP's sound recorder doesn't record for more than 1 min. I use MusicMatch6 (freeware, but no longer available) instead, and have done it on the T23 which works GREAT for recording my piano playing. More recent versions of the freeware don't allow to use the built-in microphone. Let me know if you would like me to send you a copy of the setup file.

for enabling sndrec32.exe to record more than just 1 min,
"insert" a .wav file of appropriate time
(you can save 1 minute and insert it several times
until you got for example 10 min , save + insert them again , and again, and again, and again, ....)
A little complicated , but it works.
I use an older version of cooledit on a T21-800
(attached to 2631 dock with TV/Radio pci-card and several GB via PCMCIA-USB2.0)
The demo version has reduced functionality (your choice at start of program),
so sound manipulation requires additional starts ,
but for recording it works very good.
( like many other programs, this is no advertisement !)

yeah, audicity is a divine piece of software. you can also use it to sample your old records/cassettes (for the young guys: these media were used prior to CDs to record music !). it also has built in filters to remove noises.
its amazing what freeware is capable of these days.

Yeah Audacity is great. I use it to edit my piano recordings to make them sound more professional LOL!

I use Audacity too.
I have a T30 which had the Line-In connector.
Now I upgraded to a T42p that doesn't have the Line-In. I connect the 3.5 jack in the Mic-in port, but I cannot record in Stereo, only one channel (Mono), is there a workaround to this?

On most laptops, that's actually quite infrequent and only barely noticeable. I put the laptop about two feet from a grand piano, and the big sound from the piano drowns out that from the hard drive. My first TP240 was the only exception, which was much louder and more frequent. Needless to say, I never used that for making recordings again.gearguy wrote:Wait a minute? Doesn't the constant rattling of hard drive heads in the recording drive you nuts?
