Bios Problem?

#1 Post by CeeDee » Mon Sep 11, 2006 8:03 am

I tried posting this on another group, did not get a single reply so hopefully there are those on this group who may have the answer

Hi All, I wonder if anyone has an answer to the following problem. Each
time I boot up, the screen remains in an "unstretched" mode until it
reaches the blue WELCOME screen then it goes to full size. I have
changed the setting in the bios many times, but once I have been in XP
it reverts back to the stretch mode "OFF" setting in the bios.

I have no security password on the bios, or supervisor etc. So it would
seem something in XP is doing it. Any ideas, anyone?

As you have not posted which type of Thinkpad you are using (not that it matters too much in this case), nor the software running on it, I can only make a few assumptions. You are probably running the Thinkpad Configuration program. That's the icon in the system tray that looks like a monitor. Hover over it and it will say Thinkpad Configuration. Double-click the icon. Look over on the top-right side column. There should be an LCD icon. Click it. Check the setting for "Screen expansion". It probably says "Disable". Change it to "Enable" and click the OK button. Close the Thinkpad Configuration utility program, and re-boot the system. That will probably take care of your problem.

Sorry for the omission of model, it's a T30 2366-83u. I was not using Thinkpad configuration, however I started it up and checked the setting and it was enabled. So I dissabled it, then re enabled it and saved it. Now everything is OK. Go figure.
Thanks for your help.
