Best MiniPCI WIFI card for a T20 (*not* T21, T22, T23 etc)

#1 Post by Boinng » Wed Sep 13, 2006 1:40 am

Having had one failed attempt to get an IBM branded card working in my thinkpad, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a MiniPCI wlan card that definitely does work in the T20 - as opposed to T21, 22 etc, some of which came equipped with wireless.

The card I tried was made for the T22/T23 (with internal antenna) but couldn't be persuaded to work with my T20 with a retrofitted antenna - perhaps through some hardware limitation of the older machine, or perhaps because of some limit imposed by IBM.

So - any T20 owners out there with working internal wireless, and if so, which card did you use?

The IBM "High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card" which I think was originally supplied for the T22 and T30 - it had an Actiontec chipset. Windows XP recognised it and appeared to install the drivers (downloaded from IBM/Lenovo) but then came up with an "Error Code 10: Device cannot start".

It's possible I've got a dodgy minipci slot or something, but I'm interested to know if anyone knows of a card that definitely DOES work in the T20.
