DVD Player no longer loads/runs.

#1 Post by newyorkpaulie » Sat Sep 30, 2006 6:55 am

My DVD player used to work fine. I downloaded a great freeware player. Last time I tried it out though I got an error message that my video card does not support it. Any ideas? Thanks!

some more info would be highly appreciated:

TP model ?
OS ?
DVD software ?
any changes made before and after installation of DVD software ?
video driver changed/updated ?
Virus scan made ?
Shareware DVD software maybe expired ?
DVD software uninstalled and re-installed ?

My DVD problem.

Thanks Berny,

Sorry for not giving more details.

I have a T20 and had been using a freeware program, FusionSoft DVD Player XP which after not using for some time I retried one day and got an error msg that my videocard was not supported by the software.

I tried another freeware program (Cliprex DS DVD Player) and then it worked fine so I uninstalled the Fusion one and Cliprex stopped working! Re-installing FusionSoft let the Cliprex one work again so I've left it this way. BTW, Fusion no longer works on its own. Crazy.

some freeware player are shipped WITHOUT any DVD codec. they are only players, that use codecs from third party suppliers.

that might explain, why one of your progs won't run without the other installed.

maybe you should uninstall both again and install a software that you are sure to have its own codec (e.g. windvd, commercial software).
