T23 Hibernate side effect

#1 Post by Chris N » Wed Oct 04, 2006 5:09 pm

I use Fn F12 to hibernate my T23 but hibernation doesn't recover cleanly if the Netgear Wifi card was still plugged in and live when hibernated.

When the PC is roused from hibernation the Wifi card doesn't re-start and the mouse is extremely slo to function and erratic leading to the need to re-boot.

Is there anything I can do to improve this situation other than removing the Wifi card before hibernation ?

I wonder if you have a netgear card with a driver not approved by Microsoft? My netgear drivers are unapproved and I cannot place either my Thinkpad running W2K SP3, My Dell Optiplex(XP Pro SP2),
Dell Dimension (XP Home SP2) or my Dell XPS 400 (XP SP2 Media Center) into Hybernate normally. If I do, my wifi card cannot connect properly with access point, until I reboot. Cannot do standby mode and get the card to work either.

If the card is USB connected, none of my systems will go to Hybernate in a reasonable amount of time, for example, I can return 40 minutes later and it is still full on.

Hi, I have a Netgear WG511T wireless card and had exactly the same problem as you, when I had a T23, now I'm using a T30 and do not have a problem with it. Never did find a solution to the problem though.

Thanks Cee Dee and Bruised.... for your feedback - lots of empathy but no solutions for my Netgear Wifi WG511 in a T23 problem.

Forgot to mention a workaround to complete reboot to get a netgear wifi card working again after hybernate or standby for over 20 minutes.

Disconnect the card. Log off and switch user. Connect the card and you are connected.

Actually you are connected. Windows (2000 and XP) just interferes with you connection. Punnishment for using a driver not officially approved by MS? MS has a long history of installing such things and denying it.
