Upgrading a T23 to SXGA from XGA

#1 Post by alagregg » Wed Oct 18, 2006 7:25 am

i am looking to upgrade my T23 to SXGA.

it currently has a 14" (14.1" i think) XGA screen, which was originally from a T22 (as this laptop has be repaired previously).

i am intrested in upgrading to the higher resolution SXGA.

to do this I will have to replace
1) the LCD unit
2) the cable for the LCD unit.

i am just intrested if anybody knows if anything else will need changed (e.g. screen casing etc. )

thanks,

Alastair

Hiya mate! How's Durham? Miss that place dude!! Regarding about your question.......it has been discuss many time in this forum. Perhaps the search function might possibly lead to more answers.
The SXGA+ LCD is kinda expensive on the market now.......and looking at the T23 at its aged......it might not be worth it. Just my opinion thou......

hi thanks for you feedback.

Durham is doing ok at the moment ;).

i did try and search but can't have put the right words in or something.

I am also intrested if anyone is using SXGA+ as to how easy it is to read. I have good eyesight, but wanted to check how good these displays are in general.

As you say it is expensive (probably costing me about £100 i recon) and may very well not be worth it.

I might just keep and eye out and see if i can see anything cheaper in the future.

I have a T22 with SXGA+ as well as a T41 with SXGA+ and they are great. 1400x1050 is a good resolution to work with, you can have more windows opened and if your eyesight is halfway decent, you will not have any problems with it.

but as ambientscape mentioned, the T23 is old, 14.1" SXGA+ still go for close to $300 on eBay which is close to what a used machine will sell for.

this t22 2647-9eu SXGA+ graphics mode superb w/ X-windows; also in "text mode" 175x65 clear and easily readable. I prefer it even to the a31p's UXGA.
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)
