I think I got a good deal on my T23... how does it sound?

#1 Post by newyorkpaulie » Fri Oct 27, 2006 4:23 pm

I'd been lusting for a T23 to upgrade from my T20, so when I unpacked my "new" T23 yesterday I was delighted. I placed the (ebaY) winning bid of $212.50. Shipping/insurance was an extra $20. It's in great shape with a perfect screen, no white spots, very clear and bright. Here's the scoop: T23 2467-5MU, 1.2GHz, 128 MB, 60GB, SXGA, CD-RW. Yes, the 60GB drive and the CD-RW were included!
I wasn't sure it would have the SXGA screen from the ebaY listing , so was I surprised to find I could set it at 1400 X 1050.
Thanks to everyone who uses this board for all the tips and help. I REALLY appreciate it.

That's it... bring the market price down :) .

(Ray goes off sulking and waiting for his 2647-4NU systems to arrive...)

P.S. Good deal you got!

Yea Ray, that put a hurtin on your plan! He certainly just got lucky though.

Even if it was XGA that would be a steal. You only need memory, and that shouldn't cost you more than $50. I would ask for it here if you need it, as most eBay sellers charge an arm and like, seven legs.

I'm amazed that I got so lucky, but I DID pay attention to this board and then spent a LOT of time on ebaY just sniffin', so that should count for something. The seller had a good story:"USER NAME"( 2576)
Feedback: 99.7% Positive. So I felt kinda safe. Again, thanks!!! Oh, forgot to mention, I bid on and got a 516MB mem stick on ebaY (Sorry for being so boring) for $61. (HAD TO HAVE IT NOW!).

Very insane deal. It gives us some hope for eBay. Congrats!

I've found two great deals only to have the sellers poorly pack the ThinkPads. Both left in perfect condition and arrived broken.

If one works hard enough, insane bargains can be found on eBay every now and then. Just a few weeks ago, a Sony X505 laptop (the world's lightest laptop, only 1.75 lbs) was sold for around $330 shipped!!! It's normally sold for around $1,800! Although, when something is sold for THAT cheap, one worries whether it's stolen.

That story sounds familiar... Check out this laptop I recently received (and sent back AND still have not heard from the seller OR FedEx :( ):

Deals are always available on eBay.... you just have to be patient and slightly addicted :) .

update: Claim finally resolved. See this post for complete details.

That's terrible! Looks like it was mainly FedEx's fault.

It was probably an unloader trying to finish his shift, and maybe had a little pent up anger at the time.

rkawakami, that makes me feel a little better, but now I feel sorry for you.

eBaying is very frustrating with all the scams, poor packing and careless shippers. You can win on one, but you have to win on all three to be lucky.
