Hi all
I have a T20 2647-81U. The original LCD began flickering and eventually went completly white, so I bought an LCD from a T23 on Ebay.
* The Laptop boots fine and works flawlessly through an external monitor.
* The LCD Backlight comes on, but there is no display at all....just black. ( I can't see a ghost image ).
*The Fn F7 key toggles correctly, but still no display on the LCD.
* The Fn Home and Fn End keys work correctly ( the backlight gets brighter and darker ).
* I changed the Inverter and it didn't help.
Before the original LCD went white, I was able to get it to display properly by slowly opening and closing the LCD until I got a clear display, so I figured that I had a bad cable, but the problem with the new LCD is different ( all black with a good backlight ).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's a great laptop, and I would hate to scrap it.

Correct assumption, given the symptoms noted.raymic wrote:Before the original LCD went white, I was able to get it to display properly by slowly opening and closing the LCD until I got a clear display, so I figured that I had a bad cable,
Your T20 2647-81U originally came with a 14.1" 1024x768 (XGA) screen. The T23s also were available with the same size and resolution screens. However, according to the Hardware Maintenance Manual, there are two different cable assemblies used between the two systems. Actually, the T20 and T21 uses one type and the T22 and T23 uses another. It's possible that you can't swap from a T20 to a T23 but maybe somebody here who has tried that can verify.raymic wrote:...but the problem with the new LCD is different ( all black with a good backlight ).

T20 and T23 LCD Cables
Thanks Ray
The cable seems identical, as does the inverter. Could I have a mobo problem? The cable fits perfectly.
