System Update Utility question

#1 Post by Purcy » Mon Nov 06, 2006 9:37 am

I just downloaded this from the Lenovo site and it is supposed to do automatic updates of my system - drivers updates, etc.; but when I launched it for the first time right now a window comes up showing me the info it is sending up to the Lenovo site. Where it says Machine Type and Model it reads UNKNOWN; it does show my OS as Windows XP. I clicked okay for it proceed and it searched and said that my system was up to date, no updates were found. Now I am thinking since it shows my machine type as unknown it can't possibly find any updates. Is there a way for me to insert somewhere my model # of 2647-8EU so this utility can find future updates for me? Thank you.

Argh, I totally feel for you as I have beating my head for the last week on this one. I do believe I finally have it whipped. You need to get a new version of the IBM/Lenovo Software Installer. You can find it here: http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.ws ... IGR-4ZKMCT

I did this and do believe things are better now. Oh yeah, I don't know about the T22 and this software. I have a T42p and was searching the forums to see if any had been having problems so I could give them a hand. Hopefully you can find the software update for your T22. Best of luck! :D

Thank you for replying, I did see that the new Software Installer does not show my T22 as a supported model. I'm not sure why. I'm just concerned why it could not recognize my model and am wondering if something has been changed inside by the previous owner. All the specs of my T22 that are in my signature show up on a Belarc Adviser scan but even that does not show my model # it only says it is an IBM notebook. Not sure why this is or how I can somewhere insert my model # so all these great programs pick it up.

***edited to say that the System Update I just downloaded is the newest vers. 2.0****
