T22 can't see any drives
T22 can't see any drives
Hi
Trying to revive T22: the only thing I can do is enter BIOS, starting it from good HDD (from another T22 with W'XP) or from CD doesn't make any good results. HDD and CD both start spinning for 5 sec then everything goes dark and quite.
Intel boot agent says:
PXE-E61: Media test failure,check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE
OS not found.
Is there any way to run PCDoctor in this situation ?
Also will gretly appreciate any advices
Tx to all

Welcome to the forums at thinkpads.com!
First, verify that your boot order in the BIOS setup is correct (select Startup, then Boot options). "Removable Devices" is a floppy; hard drive and CDROM are so named. My general recommendation is to set the floppy first, the CDROM second, and then the hard drive. Press the F10 button and save your configuration. If your known good hard drive or bootable CD is not found during the next boot, then I would suspect a problem with your IDE controller on the motherboard.
In that case, you may only be able to load up PC Doctor via floppy disks. You can find instructions for creating the three floppies here:
T2x PC Doctor floppies
It may not have any bearing on the problem, but what is the BIOS version from the main setup screen?
One general comment: Please provide the full type number of your system (i.e 2648-4CU) in case there's something unique about it. You should be able to find it on the bar code label on the bottom of the laptop or in the main BIOS setup screen (the first seven characters of the System-unit serial number).

I'd agree with the network boot as a possible problem but try just disabling the network boot as an option in the BIOS. If you still get an OS not found then it's not finding an OS in any of the boot devices.tfflivemb2 wrote:A lot of times, PXE errors are related to the network card.
Some corporate laptops are set to boot to a network, which obviously wont work if the laptop isn't connected to that network. If you still have the error after changing the order, try removing the network card.
Cheers
Thanks, all
My T22 is 2647-8EU
BIOS 1.12 (16ET32WW) 2004-04-27
IMBEDDED CONTROLLER VERSION 1.06
While entering STARTUP option in BIOS I have 2 submenues :
>Boot
>Network
Not sure that I can <disable> Network sub-menu. Don't see such option.
I played with boot order in both sub-menues, it's all same coming to INTEL Boot.
The last order I tried :
1.HDD
2.CD
3.Intel Boot
4.Removable FDD
5.Network
Inserting good HDD with installed W'XP from another T22 gives same results. If I take out HDD and try to start is says <HDD not found> so I assume somehow it sees HDD.
Best
