New (official) drivers for ATA controller - T23 Only

#1 Post by Musti » Wed Nov 22, 2006 6:22 am

On a mission to squeeze more performance juice.
Seeing the ATA controller (Intel) is using the default drivers from XP Installation, dating back to 2001, I searched and found the updated drivers that should help all T2x users with the Intel controller.

According to the little help that comes with the installation:
The Intel® Application Accelerator is a desktop-based software package designed specifically to increase the performance of applications and computer systems running Intel® Pentium® III or Pentium® 4 processor. This is achieved by use of several methods:

1. Intel® Application Accelerator Driver - This technology increases the performance of the Input/Output subsystem transfer rate, greatly enhancing the system speed.

2. (is Adv. Prefetch mode applicable to Pentium 4, not to us...)

Anyone who tries please report back with results. I haven't run any benchmarks yet, but so far everything's fine.

EDIT: Sorry about the confusion and forgot to mention: Only v. 2.2 will work on our machines, as T23's controller is 82801CAM.

EDIT 14/01/07: There have been two reports of these drivers increasing the time for a resume from hibernate. For details:

Tried 2.3 and 2.2.2 on my T20 (P3E @ 700Mhz), both give an incompatible hardware error...?

These drivers do not support the 440BX chipset, which is in the T20.

Yes, I renamed the topic as such. Thanks.

Used 2.2 on my T30 with W2K which applied OK.

No obvious improvement apart from the initial splash screen which (I'm convinced, although it could be my imagination) spends less time on the blue progress bar.

i have got version 2.2.2 to work on my T23.

but as mentioned the newest version will not work.

it does feel faster, but i cannot tell as i don't have any bench mark tools.

I installed 2.2 on my t23

absolutely no difference i can see

i suspect the faster the hdd you have, the less you benefit
