T30 Restore CDs.

#1 Post by Davemci » Fri Dec 01, 2006 2:55 pm

I had a friend that wanted to buy my T30 but didn't want Linux or dual boot. While trying to restore the T30 to the original factory load I screwed up the restore partition. I ordered the Restore CDs from IBM and after restoring the T30 I couldn't update Win XP. I downloaded the auto update program from Microsoft and 21 updates. However, Auto update would just hang and stop updating... I tried everything, but discovered the only thing that worked was to remove the Intel Pro (Non-IBM) and restore the default BIOS settings. Has anyone had similar issues updating the factory load after installing a Non-IBM WIFI card? I see there is a fix for this issue in Service pack 2 of windows XP Pro but I couldn't get that until after I installed the SP1 fixes.

You could get rid of that problem incorporating SP2 into your current I386 directory where the Windows XP setup files are located. Then you'll need the boot sector to make a compiled CD to boot and that way you'll have a seamless WXP+SP2 integration and avoiding all the hassles using Non-IBM wi-fi cards produce
