How did I miss the ThinkLight?
I've just discovered I have a ThinkLight on my T20. I've had the laptop for almost a year now and never realised it. I guess I was so busy tearing apart the system and doing upgrades, I never stopped to notice. I feel pretty dumb, but thrilled to have it because I'm typing this in the dark.

Fn+PgUp toggles it on and off.

Yes, the thinklight is on most models. Check out this link for more info:

You can access the thinklight with the key combo Fn-PgUp (notice the light icon on the key).

Located at two corners, those two keys are easy to find even in total darkness. Pretty clever design.

I think IBM should emphasized more on the thinklight for advertisements since lotsa them doesn't notice it. I like this topic!

Yes, the ThinkLite is really a very very useful feature. It is there with almost all the Thinkpads. The older ones were using white light where as the newer ones use yellow light, the R51 for example. This yellow light spreads better then the white one and visibility is more uniform.
All this gives me a feeling as if the Thinkpads were truly an engineer's design. There are flaws ofcourse but these are truly dream machines. I feel sad as I hear the news that this "T" line is going to be withdrawn from T6x onwards. If it is true then it is really sad news.

Turned it on by accident once and spent 10 minutes figuring how and then how to turn it off... it is a nice feature. One of those nice touches the IBM does like only using ONE memory slot when you buy it.
I alway try to go that extra mile at work, problem is the boss always finds me and brings me back
The Thinklight came in super handy once at work when we lost power. The server and network stuff still worked but overhead lamps didn't. This guy next to me with his Compaq was trying to get some light going so he can see his keys. I poped my Thinklight and he was like WHOA!
Also, girlfriend and i laying in bed, she's on her Dell and i'm using my Thinkpad. She told me to turn off the lights and then she started chatting, a lil while later started complaining she can't see the keys well (she's a touch typist). I gave her my thinkpad and turned on the Thinklight and she was so delighted! I think that's the only time she actually liked my Thinkpad.

RE: thinklight
I actually asked my father if I could use the laptop while driving one night (my mother can't drive with the LCD light in the back.) He tried to convince me I couldn't because I couldn't see the keyboard!
I hope they don't kill the thinklight. It takes up very little power, and can be used to light up other things too (car floor looking for keys.) The backlit keys would LOOK cooler, but if I wanted a cool looking laptop I wouldn't have bought a thinkpad! (Okay, the flat black DOES have it's appeal, but in a model T sort of way)
