I got the dreaded 0175: Bad CRC1...HELPPPPPP!

After all I have read, it looks as though I need a new mother board. But if anyone knows any thing new on how to try and fix this, I sure would like to know.
T23
Thanks,
Joe

Sorry Joe, I think you've answered your own question. So the rest of us can learn from this, what did you do, or what happened to displease the Gods and give you that error?? Have a look at that 14-legged angry chip located just to the left of memory cover screwhole. Does it look OK?
Cheers

Thanks for the feed back vlyne. I took at look at that 14-legged chip and she looks fine. Honestly I don't know what happened when my IBM crashed. As far as I can remember it worked one day and not the next :(.
Maybe i'll get lucky and find someone selling a working board for a good price.

Yes, I believe a certain forum member has a growing collection of T23's that he keeps saying he's about to sell. He may have a spare motherboard?? :D

I would just check your harddisk for viruses before installing in the new machine. I'm not sure what's exactly required to flash the BIOS but it would have to be a fairly smart virus to be able to access the hardware directly. Won't hurt to check.
Cheers
