How do I install Windows on a T23 without a CD Drive?

#1 Post by jamiphar » Tue Dec 05, 2006 4:59 pm

I just got my T23 from Fed-Ex and I'm wanting to install Windows on it. This came without the CD-ROM or the caddy for it, any ideas on how to install Windows without the CD-ROM drive?

Perhaps the best bet is an external USB CD-drive, but you'd be limited to USB1.1 speeds. Alternatively I believe it's possible to install over a network, although I haven't tried that.

I do have an external drive, how would I do that? I tried connecting it, but it didn't show up in the bios. Did I miss a step?

Never mind, I was using a nutty DVD/RW that couldn't read normal CDs anymore. It's working now.

Is it possible to boot a T21 from an external CD drive? And install windows that way?

That's exactly what I did yesterday with my T23. I assume that the T21 would be able to do the same thing.

If you have the ability to write to the 2.5" hard drive, you can copy the setup files into it and run it from there.
