New Instal Win XP SP2 on T23

#1 Post by larrylwill » Tue Jan 02, 2007 6:18 pm

If you were going to do a new XP SP2 install and did NOT have the T23 Install disk (I didn't get it when I bought the used T23) which files would you download from Lenovo. I don't suppose there is an install disk one can download with everything I would need?

thanks

I downloaded the installer http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-40062 after isntalling my wifi dongle and just jet Lenovo find everyhting for me. The only thing I had to download separately was the Battery Management prog.
Otherwise everything is working great. I finally figured out how to use Presentation Director connecting my T23 to a TV via S-video. Great stuff.

Oops, sorry bout the mistake.
It should be this - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZKMCT
Software installer for Win 2K/XP (7jpm10wwx.exe, 1.2MB)

It should install and when you have an internet connection, it automatically finds the correct and up-to-date drivers + management software, after downloading all parts (cca 50MB) it will also install all files one after another.

Are you trying to use windows built in wireless manager, or IBM's? I had better success with the Windows one. Access Connections would connect with my T23, but then drop the signal or the speed just seemed to be slow in general. Also for computer to computer:

Is your T23 configured to be in the same workgroup or domain as the other machines are? I am assuming that the other computer(s) already have file and printer sharing enabled on them.

Just a tip:

I would require Windows to ask for a username and password on the shared folders. This way it add's a layer of security. I am assuming this is on your home network right? If you don't have any WEP/WPA enabled, and someone comes into your network it would very easy for them to look into your shared folder. I am only telling you this because my neighbor recently added wireless to his house and I could see all his files. I went next door and showed him how to enable the security options in his new router.
