resource conflict

I have a T21 model, and it doesn't work good. It does shutdown randomly and sometime's i get this error at POST:

resource conflict - allocation error static node # 01

I couldn't find it even in IBM manual. Anyone know what this mean's ?

althougth i am not sure, it is probably some kind of IRQ conflict or similar.

what O/S are you running and do you have the latest BIOS & embedded controller version ?.

also have you tried resetting the bios to defaults. ?

another suggestion i have just thought of after checking my own thinkpad bios. sorry for doing this as two posts

you might want to check the PCI section of the bios, and try changing the values in there.

i would guess setting them all to auto-select might help (but am not sure, as i have never had to change anything in that part).

on my T23 mine are all set to IRQ 11, so you might want to try that too.

No, it didn't help. I didn't mention that this error appear's only sometime's. Yes i tried to reset bios to deafult, and i don't even have an OS because i can't install it, because of the reboot's. It happen's randomly. Even when i try to change something in BIOS it does hang or reboot.

other possibilities that i can think of could be a error with the mini-pci card, or a ram error.

to test the RAM; if you have two sticks of ram installed try running the computer with only one of them and then try with the other for a while to see if one of them is diffective.

to test if the mini-pci card is causing the error simply remove it from the laptop (this will leave you without network and modem) and see if the error goes away, if so you may need a new mini-pci card (althougth it could still be a motherboard issue).

you can get instructions on removing the mini-pci card in the technical manual for you model, if you need them.

finally you could always try and run the diagnostic disc for your model, however from what you have said i would guess it is not possible, as the error would come up.

I've removed alsmost all removable part's, only CPU not. I think it's the motherboard. It look's like there is a power issue. Sometime's he tries to start but can't. Something is holding him from it and the led's are blinking just like i would turn him off and on very fast. I think of buying another mainboard, but i want to be absolutely sure.

my guess would be the motherboard too, taking into account what you have said.

you could try taking the laptop apart and putting it back togeather, incase something has a bad connection and needs re-seating. That would be my final thought before trying another motherboard.
