Need some advise on my T21

#1 Post by furiousmonkey » Thu Jan 18, 2007 7:06 pm

The poweron issue common with these, seems to be fixed right now. The pwer adapter died and I plugged in my girlfriends 1300I Series adapter with a slightly higher amperage and a three prong plug. Go figure.

My questions is regarding my T21 2647 8AU.

Can I use any power adapter which carries the same voltage and amp, even if it is not for a laptop?

I would not recommend it unless you have an oscilloscope which can tell you how well-filtered the DC voltage is. Yes, you can probably use another AC adapter which has the 16V 4.5A (minimum) rating and the correct POLARITY of the coaxial power plug but if it is a cheaply-made supply, you may be introducing more problems into your system.

Genuine IBM AC power adapters are fairly cheap, somewhere less than $20USD on eBay if you look hard enough.
